I didn't think it was possible to feel sorry for an inanimate object such as a CD, but when I spotted this one with a big, bLue "DISCARD" stamp on it, I just knew it was going to become part of the collection. At some point in its life, it spent its time in the Santa Monica Public Library system, as indicated by the stickers all over the cover, and on the CD itself. At some point, they must have stopped loaning out CDs, and was removed.
I do wonder if the big "DISCARD" stamp meant this was going to end up in the "trash", or whether they had some type of sale where they got rid of all their CDs. Either way, it's had quite the journey, from a town there the record low temperature has never gone below freezing (according to wikipedia) and they have roughly 32 rainy days per year, to the slightly less exotic (and ever so slightly cooler) shores of Middlesbrough, and eventually Hartlepool, where the temperature only climbs above freezing when it feels like it, and they have 32 sunny days per year.
Its journey probably won't end here and at some point, I'll probably throw it back into the charity shop system, but it's got a nice comfortable home here. For now, at least
