Found entirely by accident, but this was one of the pieces of music that ITV used to use during their unscheduled breakdowns. It exists in a Youtube video of such a breakdown from 1992, when an episode of "What's Up Doc" went off-air temporarily. It sounds very much like "Always On My Mind" by Pet Shop Boys. I've seen this recorded with three people named, so I'm not quite sure who did it, but it's as if they took one look at each other and said "How many synthesised orchestra stings and choruses can we cram into one song without it sounding ridiculous? And, I think they managed to get away with it. Only just, mind.

This certainly isn't going to appeal to everyone, but as a piece of quirky, seldom-heard television history, I think it's great.
