this one is a pirated disk by the looks of it, sadly. It all looks above board and done semi-professionally, but there's the odd telltale sign now that I've got the disk home. The first, and possibly, the most obvious one that I should have picked up on, is the case inlay. It's a simple sheet of folded paper. Albeit printed professionally, it's folded badly.
the catalogue number's not printed on the spine. Only just noticed that. Obviously, something I'm not going to look for in the shap, especially when there werehundreds to go through. the back case, looks even better, being almost identical to the retail version. Compared to the retail version, the only noticeable change is the "Compact Disc" logo. The word 'disc' is filled in instead of hollow. I've seen this a few times in CDs that are not genuine. Didn't spot it on the occasion.
the disk itself is very nicely done. the silkscreen printing is exactly what I would suspect from a retail disk. the printed texture on the label is exctly what I'd expect. If anything, the printing looks a little soft, but then everything looks soft with my eyes. The underside of the disk is a little bit of a giveaway. The disk has that slightly shimmering finish, even on areas of the disk that would, on an officially moulded disk, be 100% reflective. I know what I mean. The barcode 343038777989 is fictitious, and doesn't point to anything at all.
